Meriden Stop & Shop

Meriden Stop & Shop
Meriden, CT
Client: The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co.

On a prominent site in downtown Meriden, Stop & Shop proposed a new state-of-the-art store to replace the jumble of aging commercial and industrial buildings that had long occupied it. The thoughtful site and building design is responsive to the different character of the three surrounding streets: one residential, one commercial and one civic and historic. Significant off-site traffic improvements addressed existing pedestrian and vehicular conflicts in the vicinity of the site while mitigating the impact of the new supermarket.

New Roc City

New Roc City
New Rochelle, NY
A Street-Works Development

The failing New Rochelle Mall provided the opportunity to create a new and vibrant anchor to Main Street, in keeping with the City’s vision of revitalizing the declining commercial district. Incorporating a Stop & Shop supermarket with its own parking on the lowest level, and movies, an ice rink, restaurants and retail tenants on upper levels, the project included a municipal parking garage topped by a hotel and a residential condominium building.

Bethesda Row

Bethesda Row
Bethesda, MD
Client: Federal Realty Investment Trust

In collaboration with the Montgomery County Planning Department, and on behalf of the client, Street-Works developed comprehensive design guidelines for a new urban district in Bethesda. The guidelines encompassed architecture, place-making and streetscape design. A great mix of retail tenants, including a state-of-the art Giant supermarket, interesting sidewalks, public gathering places and upper level uses have established this multi-phase, mixed-use project as a new vibrant district in the city.
